No New ESCape This Wednesday

August 25th, 2008 | Category: Episode Preview

Hey guys… unfortunately this week there will be no new edition of The ESCape Show on Wednesday. Al is taking a much needed vacation, Steve is still recovering from his “Stevis’s Disease”. The ESCape Studio is also under a bit of “renovation” during this week as well, so that prevents Mike from doing a show himself. We will instead air a repeat edition of the show this week, and the chat room will still be active. We will be back in full force next week (9/3) as we start the month of September with Round 1 of Battle of the WoW Nerd Allstars!

Episode 37 – As The GPN World Turns

August 16th, 2008 | Category: Episode Update

Loads and loads of soap opera drama in this explosive episode…
- Mike is back and updates us on the whereabouts of Steve. Apparently Steve is very sick, (not joking here) and he will be out for the next couple of episodes. In honor of Steve, we have a special Steve tribute, and Coke is hosting The ESCape’s first ever telethon, Save the Stave, where all donations go to support his hospital bill.
- This week we review two Wii Ware Releases, “Frat Party Games Pong Toss” and “Major League Eating”.
- A Double AOTW this week, including a 25 year old woman who just won 1.5 million dollars suing a doctor over an STD, and a mental disability group apparently has a problem with a new Hollywood movie.
- We have an exclusive update from UG, live at GENCON. Is his ultimate date with Kristen coming true?
- We feature an arcade/Atari classic in this week’s Retro Review, to go along with the whole eating thing.
- This episode will feature the full recap of last weeks OC, including what went on after the OC went off the air. Will Harmack and Al finally settle their differences after the explosive ending of the OC last Saturday?

Episode 35 – For the 14 Year Old WOW Nerds

August 09th, 2008 | Category: Episode Update

The ESCape is back with an all new show – with Mike and Steve still on summer hiatus :/
However, Al and Harmack in studio and here’s what went down in Episode 35:
- After recent comments of The ESCape Show being labeled as “too vulgar” by “critics”, who better to have return as a special guest? Oliver Bean (our band guest from “Episode 30: Gettin Dirty With 30″) is back with us in studio! On this episode, Sahm and Jimmy B (of Oliver Bean) push the limit of the show, even so far that we almost had to edit the podcast for content. We even put Oliver Bean to the test in a little trivia challenge, and we got a hold of some exclusive Bean tracks as well.
- Even though our main audience is apparently “14 Year Old WOW Nerds”,(another “critic” complaint) we’ve decided to make this one appealing to old school retro nerds as well. This week, we review Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS, and Super C is in our Retro Review. If you loved it back in the day, you won’t want to miss this review.
- Our new contest Battle of the “WOW Nerd” All Stars was announced. Sign ups will continue through August, and the contest will start on the Sept. 3rd airing of The ESCape.
- “Dear ESCape” returns, as this episode we received an “anonymous” letter from someone who attended the Country Thunder concert, and needs advice about a certain “OC” member.
- We’ve got a brand new Ass of the Week and more mayhem. This Episode is long, this episode is explosive… and is for mature 14 year old WOW Nerds.

PS: Still trying to figure out whats going on with the audio in certain parts of the podcast with the echoing. It has to do with the live streaming and we are still ironing it out. Thanks for your patience!

Als Blog: Recent Numbers, Branching Out, The Most Important ESCape Survey Yet, and Itunes Users

August 07th, 2008 | Category: Site Update

Ok, well here is now my second venture into this whole blogging thing. If you listened to Episode 36 live this past Wednesday, we announced on the show that theescapeshow.com pulled in a staggering number of 26,224 website hits during the course of July. This is very impressive since our normal end of month number usually ends up around 21,000 or so. We are on a roll for August as well – as so far, we have averaged almost 800 hits per day. Thank you again to all of our listeners and fans who check our website daily, and we’ll do our best to update the site with more content and as frequent as possible. The next thing I intend to do personally is try and fix a listener complaint on our site, as I will try to make it easier to listen live to GPN Radio directly from our website. You should hopefully see that fix in the next few upcoming days.

But we don’t want to stop there. Our next initiative is to branch out to even more “platforms” as well. As of today, our show can be heard (and is archived) on Blog Talk Radio. We are also on Mediafly, Podcast Alley, and we are working on a few more podcasting locations. Also – it has come to my attention that our RSS feed was coming incorrectly for our Itunes users. If you podcast us on Itunes (and there are many that do), I have fixed this, so do a refresh. If that does not work, re-subscribe to the feed on Itunes, and that should fix it.

Lastly, and the most important part, we have a new survey on theescapeshow.com, and it is the most important survey that we have posted to date. We need you, the listening audience, to take this survey to let us know how we are doing. The survey is completely anonymous, and helps us appeal our show better for the listeners and advertisers. It will literally take you only 5-10 minutes, so please, do the survey. The banner for the survey is at the bottom of our main page, but if would like the direct link:

http://www.podtrac.com/audience/start-survey.aspx?pubid=Mzq56wdz1hY$&ver=standard

Episode 35 should be available sometime by the next couple of days. Make sure to tune us in next Wednesday night at 8:00 PM EST, and visit our forums on GPN Radio.com!
