Episode 79 – Saved By The ESCape – The College Years

July 30th, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

With Willie taking “vacation time” due to the birth of his newborn baby boy, Galena (she finally told us how to spell her name right) is filling in this week for him.

This week on the show, we reminisce about our college years – the fun times, the parties, the drunk hazing… Yeah, Mike has quite a few stories to share.

“Weird Retro Month” kicks off one week early, and as the theme indicates we will be reviewing odd games that we’ve never heard of before and are playing for the first time. What could be the strangest game we’ve ever played in our lives, first up is 3DO “classic”, and possibly one of the first adult mainstream video games ever, “Plumber’s Don’t Wear Ties”. You won’t believe it til you hear it. You must be over 18 to hear this Retro Review, even though the game’s box says 17. Sorry.

YouTube Video of the Week… kinda

July 30th, 2009 | Category: Willie's YouTube Of The Week

We didn’t actually have a YouTube Video of the Week for Episode 79, but since “Weird Retro Month” has started early, we figured we’d post this instead. On Episode 79 we reviewed the rare and odd “classic” Plumbers Don’t Wear Ties for the 3DO. The ESCape was completely unaware this title existed before watching a review done by the Angry Video Game Nerd (who we have mentioned on the show before, numerous times). This review goes into alot more detail than we did about the game, and its just down right funny.

Also, unlike certain other shows, when we get an idea externally, we always make sure to cite and credit their work.

The ESCape is proud to announce the newest member of “Willie’s Kids” – Willie Lavelle Webb Jr is born 7lbs 6oz today (July 24th 2009). Congratulations to our beloved co host Willie and his wife (and our chat rooms own) Mrs1114! Willie will be back on Episode 80 (a week from this Wednesday) to tell us all about it. Our own DJ Jak was there with Willie to “document the experience” so he will have an update for us as well this Wednesday on Episode 79. Be sure to leave Willie and Mrs1114 some love on our facebook page.

Episode 78 – Blast To the Past

July 23rd, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

On tonights show, Al, Mike and Willie take a trip down memory lane as we relive our pasts and discuss all “retro” tonight. It’s a “Real Life Retro Review” all night during this show. We’ll discuss our favorite retro movies, TV shows, cartoons, video games, toys, music, fads, you name it and we probably talked about it. We also read a ton of listener feedback from our email and Facebook account on the show to see what our fans thought as well. The biggest moment of all though is a present that Mike has for Al in our Retro Review this week – a copy of this game reportedly was sold for $17,000+ on Ebay recently and there are only “Gold Plated” copies currently in circulation.

Also, Sam Houston of GamerDNA (better known to us as QFORQ, and former Uberguilds Radio station manager) joins the show for an update on the current happenings of GamerDNA, and if he plans to contribute to the “GNET All Stars” music CD compilation with another track.

Escape User Login Fixed… Maybe Not?

July 17th, 2009 | Category: Site Update

We’ve fixed a problem on our website involving listeners being able to sign up or log in to post comments on the website. You can now user your existing log in or sign up for a brand new account on the site. We’d like your comments on our show and website, and as normal we will read them on the show!

Ok ok… we jumped the gun. Apparently there are still issues. We are working on them! Thanks to the listeners who notified us!

Episode 77 – Black Or White… Or In Mike’s Case Betty White

July 17th, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

Al, Mike, and Willie back with you this week for our 77th installment, along with studio guests Galeena (who still hasn’t told us how to spell her name right) and ESCape Fan Club President, Paddlechamp. On this random show, we discuss this past Saturday’s UFC 100 Pay-Per-View and Brock Lesnar’s actions. Was he wrong for the way he handled his win, or was his dominance justified? Plus, Willie has The Top 10 Things The ESCape Can Do Now That We’ve Passed 75 Episodes, we check the ol’ mailbag for 5 Questions For The Black Guy, Jak returns with his two cents on Mrs114′s False Alarm Pregnancy last week, and we debate whether Oprah is black or white, among other things.

Episode 76 – Disco Duck and Betty White

July 09th, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

Al, Mike and Willie, back with you this week… actually Willie is indisposed with hopefully the birth of his child, so filling in this episode will be the returning Galeena!
On this weeks show, we do something very bold and yet tasteful (well for this show) as we review Michael Jackson’s Funeral that occurred this week. Has their been way to much mainstream press for MJ’s death, or has the media not been respectful enough? Plus Mike gives us a history lesson about some interesting things that happened in ’76, and Al’s Serious Statistics returns again this week (making especially Unknown Gamer happy) as we take a look at some interesting conspiracies about our show (queue the “WHOOAAA!!”). Last but not least, we give you what could be possibly the biggest Ass of the Week we’ve ever had on this show, involving two asses cought up in an altercation involving… Cheetos.

All this and more including the music of Aussie band Tenpenny Joke, we’ve got Rick Dees and the Disco Duck and Mike reveals his true love for Betty White?! Download this episode today!

Episode 75 – For the Fans

July 05th, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

The ESCape Show hits another milestone with our latest Episode, Episode #75. Last week our listeners spoke out – they told us what segments they wanted to hear, what music to play during our breaks, who they wanted to appear on the show. For our great fans, we give you this episode. A few of our fans also joined us live in studio – a special thanks to Paddlechamp, Min, DJ Chaz, and Michelle for coming to the studio to see the show happen live.

Celebrity Tribute – With all the recent Hollywood deaths, The ESCape gives a special tribute to those who recently departed. Willie becomes very emotional that his hero Michael Jackson has passed away, and that he was never able to interview him. MJ was last heard on “Episode 14″ of our show, and Al and Mike do what they can to bring MJ back from the dead for Willie.

Tas VS Mike in a Live “Nickelback” Debate – Last week long time listener Tas accepted Mike’s challenge for a live debate over whether or not Nickelback is a good band, or just a bunch of whiny bastards. Our fans in studio served as the judges, and you won’t believe who wins.

Classic Performances – Although the fans didn’t get QForQ in another concert performance this week, Mike, Harmack and Willie gave them the performance of a lifetime. Also, UnknownGamer gets “RickRolled” as he and Mike sing a duet of “Never Gonna Give you Up”.

Al’s Serious Statistics Returns – By fan request, our statistics segment has returned, and Al has some intriguing stats about the show.

This edition of The ESCape Show is sponsored by Hostgator.com – webhosting for as low as $4.95 a month. The ESCape uses and recommends Hostgator.

Episode 74 – Fart Wars

July 04th, 2009 | Category: Episode Update

Special guest RTP returns to the show this week… and brings some major gas along with him. Competitive as he is, Mike refuses to let RTP pollute the studio alone, and they both enter a “Fart Contest”. Armed with a bottle of Febreeze, Al tries to maintain and keep the show together.

Like It… Or Hate It? – We introduce a new segment this week and take a look at a few different topics in the media. This week we take a look at why John and Kate + 8 is so popular, and the self proclaimed “best blogger” Perez Hilton.

Listeners Choice – With our 75th Episode only a week away, we take a look at some older clips from the show, and the listeners vote which segments they want to hear for next week.
